Nota
- Alue, joka on perinteensä osalta suhteellisen homogeeninen. Perinnealueen määrittymiseen vaikuttavat mm. etnisyys, murre tai kieli, hallinnolliset rajat ja uskonto. Suomalaisessa perinteentutkimuksessa perinnealuejako myötäilee yleensä Suomen historiallisia maakuntia.
